In order to perform comprehensive examination and rehabilitation, initial visit usually takes approximately 2-3 hours. Follow-up visits vary greatly based on your goal and rehabilitation plan. We will build an individualized rehabilitation plan based on your needs and goals.
Dr. Ikeda will perform comprehensive physical/neurological/orthopedic exam with integrating assessments of functional neurology and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). The exam is to determine how is the functions of patient’s brain, movements and muscles. Whenever indicated by the exam and based upon the clinical judgment of the chiropractic neurologist, we may order additional lab work and medical imaging as needed. Then, we complete assessment utilizing cutting-edge diagnostic technologies to measure postural control, motor accuracy, motor planning, attention, ocular control all in effort to pinpoint cause of problem.
We eveluate and rehabilitate spinal segmental dysfunctions that often lead to the development of changes in motor reflexes that affect central nervous system integration and potentially associate with various conditions. Not all conditions are amenable to the method of treatments provided so each patient receives a thorough neurological and physical examination to determine whether they will be accepted for our rehabilitative procedures.
Neurological and orthopedic exam, joint and soft tissue assessment to evaluate your conditions. Then, following special tests will be performed as needed.
Functional movement assessment evaluates fundamental movement patterns and its quality. This assessment may reveal seemingly unrelated impairments in a remote region may be associated with the primary complaint or pain. It helps to address a cause of problem and prevent future injury and enhance sport performances.

Y balance test is a dynamic test performed in single-leg stance that requires strength, flexibility, core control and proprioception. It has been used to assess physical performance, identify chronic ankle and ACL instability , and identify athletes at greater risk for lower extremity injury. Researchers have suggested including these tests in screening for activity participation. Asymmetry may indicate following: joint mobility dysfunction, stability motor control dysfunction, vestibular dysfunction, proprioceptive dysfunction and/or abnormal somatosensory input. It is known that appropriate rehabilitation allows patients to improve their core strength and performance resulting in restoring proper motor control and preventing injuries.

Only when it is medically needed, we take x-rays of the necessary views.
* These exam and special tests will be performed only when it's needed. Depending on your condition, some tests may not be performed.

Assessment of the ability to walk by the specialized doctor, combined with technology for measuring body movements and mechanics enables us to determine how/what to treat and rehabilitate. The patient walks on a hallway and it will be captured by iPad. Utilizing a specialized App to analyze gait, the angles of trunk, hip, knee and ankle are measured to assess joint/muscle movements.
IM is a research-based training program that helps children and adults improve attention, motor skills, balance, coordination, memory and cognitive function. It has been reported that IM can help a wide variety of conditions such as mild traumatic brain injury, ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy, dyslexia, dyspraxia, learning disability, stuttering, sensory processing disorder, Parkinson’s, post-stroke, concussion, sports performance.

Many neurological/musculoskeletal disorders are associated with pathology of balance and gait. Good balance requires the good functioning of the body and brain. Computerized dynamic postrugraphy helps our assessment and rehabilitation with clear objective findings. These computerized assessments and data allows us not only to predict the probability of a fall, but also to find out functionality of brain and body.
